Meet: Ross

I am an easy going 27 year old who works as an account manager by day and a super dad by night. I enjoy socialising with my friends, playing and watching pretty much any sport and like to keep fit, although, all of these have somewhat taken a back burner since the arrival of beautiful little Betsy and to be honest, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am a first time parent and absolutely loving it! I am not going to lie though, it is the hardest thing I have ever done but by far the best. My little girl is called Betsy Veronica Lye and is now the centre of my world, she is growing up so fast and every day seems to be a new day in her development, with the noises she can make (from both ends), the movements she does and positions she seems to find herself in. Balancing work and time with Betsy is what I am struggling with the most but having daily pictures and videos sent to me certainly helps with this, it makes my day when I see her smiling (or crying) little face and I cannot wait to get home to give it a squish! Everything was new to me and I had no idea how to change a nappy, this is something I excel at now and would like to bet someone I could probably fit one blindfolded, whether it would keep in all it is designed for , is another thing. I may be exaggerating a little bit here but basically, I feel a lot more comfortable dealing with the nappy situation.

I had the luxury of some me and Betsy time when my fiancée went off on her hen do,. This was something I was really panicking about but it went really well and was so rewarding. I feel that we have a much better bond now and I am not afraid to tackle something new or take the reins when Betsy is not in the best of moods and needs calming down.

I would like to share my experiences of being a first time parent and the worry in the beginning of not knowing anything is not actually all doom and gloom. I like to think that every baby is different, you can read all the books in the world but I like to discover for myself what makes Betsy laugh, what calms Betsy down and to make the most of every minute and discover every little thing possible.
