And So To Sustainable Style

And So To Sustainable Style

A while ago, I found The True Cost on Netflix. If you haven't heard of it, it's a documentary about the unseen side of the fast fashion industry, and it is mega! I have first-hand experience with the impact it's had: from conversations with friends from both sides of the globe to the many videos on YouTube talking about the issues with cheap clothing, which, unfortunately, have not yet managed to drown out those of fast fashion hauls.

Summer on a Shoestring: How To Travel Cheaply

Unavoidably, travelling costs money. Unavoidably, it also usually involves thought and preparation - it would be wrong to say that anyone can just go off for a jolly without some pre-planning. This is especially true for some people who are without parents who let you get away with long periods of rent-free crashing, or in a job where the flexibility to up and leave on a whim is simply not there. All of this can make travelling seem really difficult and horrendously expensive, leaving it as nothing more than a perfect pipe dream that belongs on someone else's Instagram page.

I Went To The Americas And I Got… A Pretty Chronic Plant Problem!

I Went To The Americas And I Got… A Pretty Chronic Plant Problem!

It began in Key West, Florida: three days there made me realise I want to live in an indoor jungle. And who wouldn’t when the only relief from the heat in that town is shade from big tropical plants, coupled with vintage ceiling fans? I cannot recreate the rich southern barbeque smells, the quaint wooden buildings of different sizes, shapes and colours with ornate verandas. But the forests spilling out onto the street from each one? I’d like some of that!

Make Something Plain Less Ordinary

Make Something Plain Less Ordinary

Today I popped in to REW, to see an old friend and fellow small business owner. If you don’t know about her then you really should.

Rachel Emma Wright launched her business back in June 2011 but has been serving the fashion forward crowd for many years. I knew her as the really trendy girl that wore something new and funky every Friday night. Rachel started creating clothing in her spare bedroom after studying milinary at the Epsom School of Art. She later moved her business into a shed at the bottom of the garden and now owns a gorgeous studio in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Here, new designs are born, created and luckily for us we can pop in any time and pick up a unique piece.
