Edgy Boho Wedding Inspo
Urban Boho Edgy Wedding Tattooed Bride

There is some absolute gorgeousness on the blog today, in the form of this B E A U T styled shoot from Burton Photography. The venue was New Craven Hall, the brief was edgy boho, and the result – truly stunning! Sporting a supplier list that was wholly from Yorkshire, too, this shoot is an amazing source of practicalluy-usable real wedding inspiration.

New Craven Hall, based in Leeds, is the perfect blank canvas venue, with stunning brick walls and feature beams. This meant the stylist, Shindig Events, had completely free reign to transform the space, which she did perfectly. Under twinkling fairy lights wrapped around the venue’s beams, they used a beautiful soft white backdrop and hanging foliage as the focal point of the ceremony space. The rest of the area was filled with gorgeous Chiavari chairs, and the aisle was lined with flickering white candles and boughs of greenery, lending a mystical, ritual-esque edge to the space. This continued to the backdrop, with a mixture of candles at all different heights providing a warm, romantic glow behind the couple as they say their vows. This is the perfect display of how to use candles in wedding décor – they don’t always have to look rustic or wintery!

The table décor followed this theme, featuring tealights nestled among tall gathered palm fronds. Each place setting featured a palm frond, gold cutlery and beautiful scrawled menus and place cards from Gray Starling, and yet more greenery hung from the chairs to tie in with the ceremony backdrop.

Inkeeping with the revamped boho theme, the outdoor area was transformed into a luxe relaxation space that was mismatched to perfection. With red leather sofas adorned with cushions and blankets set against a background of dense, dark greenery, the vibe was a place to completely chill and enjoy. The table was covered in eucalyptus boughs, geometric candle holders, tapered colourpop candles and buttery yellow roses, making a stunning warm and exotic colour palette without any one main feature colour.

Chanelle and Joe were the perfect models for the shoot, bringing the edgy urban shoot to real life better than anyone else could ever have done! When searching for a model, the photographer Rachael was looking for an edgy couple up for everything and anything creative – she definitely found that! Chanelle is a tattooist by trade and as such she provided a gorgeous contrast between her intricate, dark and colourful tattoos and the crisp soft white lace of the dress, which looks amazing on photos.

The Bridal Collection dress, featuring an intricate leafy pattern that brings an urban cool to traditional lace, is a beautiful shape, with cap sleeves, a sweetheart neckline and a stunning full skirt with soft, romantic movement. I adore the photos of the flowing fabric of the skirt at the top of the aisle, framed by the flickering candles, alongside Joe’s great ensemble of turned-up drainpipe trousers and brogues. Chanelle’s messy, loose wave and vampy dark lip add a fab urban edge to the boho look.

These deep, moody tones continued through into the bouquet, which is an uber textured bundle of gorgeousness from Bizzi Lizzi, featuring ruffled white blooms and greenery, all tied together with gorgeous sage green ribbon. I adore the depth of the colour in the arrangement, and the array of textures and heights that give it such an incredible dramatic feel.

And let’s just focus on the spectacular photography for a hot sec, shall we? Rachael from Burton Photography has worked in events for over four years and has wanted to plan her own styled shoot for most of that time. She knew exactly what she wanted, and picked the most awesome suppliers who she knew would make her dreams come true. Well they were everyone’s dream come true: the moody lighting and beautiful framing of each shot is sublime. I absolutely love how Rachael’s used props in a way that’s still resulted in beautiful, natural photos, rather than awkward, stunted shots – especially the photos of Joe and CHanelle holding up palm leaves and of Joe in the horse mask. This shoot – as well as being the most gorgeous edgy boho shoot in the world – is a perfect reminder to make sure you hire a photographer you’re completely comfortable around and feel you can horse around with…(sorry, I had to.)
