Steph & Adele: Intimate, Stylish Barn Wedding with 19 Guests
What do you need to make a stunning wedding day? 19 people, 1 incredible photographer and a gorgeous blank canvas barn venue, it would appear, and Bob's your uncle! Today's blog is the most romantic and intimate wedding of Steph and Adele at Greenbank Barns, near Richmond, all captured by Tiree Dawson.
Both working in graphic design, Steph & Adele's creative eye is obvious wherever you look in these photos. Tiree put it perfectly when she described their wedding as '"on brand", in the most beautiful and pleasing way". Their whole day was styled to perfection, using a scandi-inspired palette, minimalist and spaced out fonts, and careful consideration of space. However, it was also the warmest, kindest day, filled with nothing but genuine love and laughter, thanks to the laid-back and informal atmosphere and the plentiful provisions. This isn't a very easy balance to strike, but it is a very special one - and they nailed it.
The vision was to things simple but elegant, stylish and romantic with a white and sage green colour scheme, which influenced a gorgeous gathered arrangement by Ivy, Pip & Rose, a handmade wooden frame for the ceremony area, a stunning selection of bridesmaid dresses (for a stunning selection of bridesmaids) and ruddy g-o-r-geous invites with bloom detail.
We're talking lawn games, major dancing, a sumptuous feast, incredible tablescapes, and GHOSTBUSTERS on the big screen. We couldn't have asked for any more and they didn't dream of any more!
"We always knew we wanted a small wedding, a day that would be as relaxed and as informal as possible spent with those closest to us. We also knew we wanted to have full control over every little detail. So when we found Greenbank Barns, a beautiful holiday home that would fit exactly our number of guests, we knew it was the perfect place for us. Booking our day around two years in advance meant we didn’t have any trouble securing our date with all of the amazing suppliers that we really, really wanted. It also gave us enough time to collect and hoard decorations in preparation for the big day.
The day started with a breakfast buffet, and after a quick run through of the ceremony our bridesmaids were whisked off to hair and make up. The morning was just a little bit stressful, I myself fell ill and spent most of it in bed, whilst Adele was running around meeting suppliers and making sure everything was in order. Thankfully after some rest I felt much more like myself and managed to get seated in the hair and makeup chair, this is when the day really began for me.
Our ceremony was originally planned for the garden, as the views from the barns are incredible, though the heavens opened and instead we used one of the smaller rooms inside. It worked out perfectly, the exposed brick walls matched beautifully with the wooden arch my Dad had made that was lovingly dressed in flowers by Rebecca our super talented florist. The ceremony itself was short but sweet, we didn’t want anything too mushy but we did want it to be very personal and meaningful, which with the help of Heather our celebrant, I think we achieved. You know you’ve got it right when your sisters cry happy tears.
After a toast and many photographs, which the weather very kindly cleared up for, we headed over to a second barn for the wedding breakfast. Our favourite food has always been Italian, so it was the obvious choice for our menu. As we all tucked in to our pasta and bruschetta’s the sun was working it’s magic drying the grass in preparation for our garden games.
As a Harry Potter fan, Quidditch was essential, though we also had skittles, croquet and a tin can alley for the Muggles. The evening was spent relaxing with family, wherever you looked there were little pockets of people enjoying the day, either simply chatting over champagne, capturing memories with our instant camera, snuggling up with popcorn watching Ghostbusters on the cinema screen, tucking into some wedding cake or dancing the night away."
