Venue Focus: The Venue

The Venue - Textile Mill to Wedding Venue.

When you drive through Yorkshire, you can’t help notice all the old textile mills left from the Industrial Revolution times and I imagine the hustle and height of activity that went on around them in days gone by. I love these buildings. Vast, full of character and best of all lots of history and heritage. So I’m excited today to share with you an old textile mill that has been converted into a wedding venue…meet The Venue.

Bowers Mill is a former textile Mill situated on the outskirts of Halifax in West Yorkshire. Owners Adam and Nicola Walton fell in love with the space when they celebrated their Wedding at the Venue 15 years ago.  They instantly loved it’s individuality and lofty interior.

When they bought the business they renovated the space sympathetically, giving a nod to it’s traditional Yorkshire woollen mill heritage. Exposing the original features and brick work to bring warmth and character into the space. This year there has been an exciting addition to the Venue: The Bowers Suite. This is a beautiful space with stone arched ceilings, original wooden flooring and cast iron pillars. This room gives couples a separate ceremony suite or a more intimate wedding breakfast. Customers are at the heart of the business at every event be it for 60 guests or numbers in excess of 300, the team prides itself in working with customers to achieve exactly what they want. Offering exclusive use so the only guests at your wedding are yours!

The main event space can be used as an open plan entertaining space, or can be sectioned into 3 smaller spaces. They hold licences for inside the main “Mill” space, Bowers suite and outside overlooking the lake, so couples have a choice of where to say “I do” at The Venue, Bowers Mill.

Not only is the space oozing with character inside making a fab all year round venue, but the outside pergola and bridge overlooking the lake is a lovely setting for those outdoor photos most couples want on their wedding day. Who knows, you could even get a little rowing boat on that lake!

Did we also mention the caterer? Eric Paxman, owner of award winning Erics restaurant in Lindley and Pax Burgers is one of the recommended caterers for The Venue. Award winning cuisine to wow your guests - err yes please!

There are numerous places to stay nearby which is perfect for wedding guests and your bridal party. Owners, Adam and Nicola as well as Lucy, their events coordinator, are on hand to offer any other local advice.

Although The Venue is industrial and has it’s quirks, it’s an edgy, blank space that’s big enough for one hell of a party or cosy enough for a more intimate wedding. The space is flexible and adaptable to suit and this is something to love. With packages for varying wedding budgets too. Enquire for more details via their website.

A showcase evening hosted by The Venue will be taking place on Thursday 4th October. It’s a chance for couples to see the venue at it’s best and see the potential of the amazing spaces. Take a look at the Facebook event for details here. Come along and say hello!
