Here at And so to Shop, we know first hand the love & hard work that goes in to an independent brand and every, single item that independent brand sells!
Each item sold through And so to Shop is sent directly from an independent British business to you. This means that when you shop with us, someone does a happy dance. One of those someone’s is Heidi – who we are talking to this week about her brand, Glorious by Heidi.
I’m Heidi, owner and designer at Glorious by Heidi. Based in Cheshire, UK, I handcraft bridal and special occasion accessories for women looking for the perfect accessory to take their look from ordinary to extraordinary.
I launched my brand back in 2013, having sought a step away from juggling the pressure of working as a radio presenter and being a full time mum and Carer to my gorgeous daughter, who was born with Down’s Syndrome.
I have a degree in Creative Arts from Manchester Metropolitan University, so have always been creative, but Glorious really began when I started to ‘mess around’ with wires, crystals and pearls. I was asked by my (now) sister-in-law to design her something to wear in her hair on her wedding day – and, before I knew it, I was burning the midnight oil at my kitchen table to cope with the demand for accessories for friends, family and friends of friends!
Heidi has won multiple awards for her work
I find my inspiration all over – from the colours and forms found in nature, to high fashion, to styles adopted by great women of past and present (step up Liz Taylor, Madonna, Bjork & Beyonce).
I use only the finest materials in my designs – Swarovski crystals, pearls, silver lined seed beads, diamante, organza, and the softest velvet – ensuring that each accessory looks as good in ten years time, as the day you first wear it – the idea that a piece I’ve created might one day end up on Antiques Road Show thrills me far more than it probably should!
My accessories are carefully handcrafted by me, in my Cheshire studio, and they really are very close to my heart – when you fall in love with one of my designs, I’m the one doing the “happy dance” that And So To Shop talk about!
I’m extremely proud to have won The Wedding Industry Awards ‘Best Accessory Designer’ for the North West in both 2016 and 2017, and was short listed for the national awards on both occasions. I would LOVE to win the national award… fingers crossed for 2018!!
2018 is set to be an exciting year for me, as I’ll be leaving my Macclesfield studio (where I’ve been based since 2014) later this year! Eek! Exciting times ahead!
We cannot wait to see what 2018 brings for Heidi and her Glorious accessories!
